We will keep 1904 as building date - Just look at the book RĂ©pertoire d'architecture traditionnelle: Les Banques page 128, also cited by The Dictionary of Architects in Canada.

Municipal tax record often keep major renovation as building date.
It does not make sense that this building was built in 1904 First_ The first RBC bank in Montreal was 147 or 221 st James in 1907 Second____ 1907 is the year RBC moved to Montreal not 1904 Third ___The city taxes mention year built as 1937
